
How old do you have to be to live at Gwinnett Christian Terrace?
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has designated Gwinnett Christian Terrace as a senior living facility for individuals aged 62 or older. However, 10% of the units are set aside for those who may be 18 or older and who have mobility disabilities which require the accessibility features of an architecturally altered unit.
Is eligibility based on income?
There are upper income limits that determine an applicant’s eligibility to live at Gwinnett Christian Terrace. In 2008, those income limits are $39,850 for a single person household and $45,550 for a two-person household. If your income is above these limits, you would not be eligible for residency at Gwinnett Christian Terrace.
How much will I have to pay in rent?
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) subsidizes rent for residents of Gwinnett Christian Terrace through a Housing Assistance Payment contract. Each resident provides information concerning his or her income, assets, and out-of-pocket medical expenses. Residents pay 30% of their adjusted gross income (gross income less out-of-pocket medical expenses) each month, up to the current market rent.
What is included in the rent?
All utilities are included in the rent, with the exception of telephone service. The included utilities are gas, water, electricity, trash disposal, and limited cable television. Enhanced cable TV is $20 per month.
Do you allow pets?
Pets are allowed at Gwinnett Christian Terrace. Dogs, cats, birds, fish, and rodents (i.e. hamsters, gerbils, etc.) are considered acceptable pets. All pet owners must sign a Pet Application and Pet Rules. A pet deposit of one month’s rent or $300, whichever is less, is required for dogs and cats. Only one dog or one cat is permitted per unit and there is a 15 pound weight limit for a dog or cat. The pet deposit and weight limit are waived for service animals.
Do you have two-bedroom apartments?
No, Gwinnett Christian Terrace has only one-bedroom suites.
Do you have on-site meals?
No, Gwinnett Christian Terrace is not equipped to prepare and serve meals to residents. Homebound residents may receive meal delivery from Meals on Wheels, a service provided through Gwinnett County Senior Services, or from an outside catering source.
Do you have health care or nursing?
Gwinnett Christian Terrace is a residential community for seniors and mobility disabled, but nursing or other personal care services are not provided. However, residents are welcome to have home health care or personal care assistants, for which they or their families have arranged, provide care for them in their apartments.
Do you provide transportation?
Gwinnett Christian Terrace provides transportation for shopping at WalMart on a weekly basis, as well as some mall shopping. There is no charge to residents for this transportation. Personal transport, such as doctor visits, etc. are not included in our service.
Are you an assisted living facility?
Gwinnett Christian Terrace is not an assisted living facility. We are an independent living residential community for seniors and mobility disabled.
