Alfredo was born in Cuba, November 20, 1929, and was raised in the city of Alto Songo. He served for 10 years in the Cuban Military. Alfredo came to the US when he was 40 years old, first to New Jersey, where he lived for 4 years, then he moved to Miami. In 1980, he met Maria at church. Alfredo loved everything about Maria, especially that she was friendly and educated. They married in 1983. Alfredo worked as a housekeeper and bell-hop in hotels, and was a caregiver for seniors through United Way prior to retirement. He enjoyed playing baseball, and now likes to watch it on TV. His favorite team to watch is the Atlanta Braves, and his favorite player is Brian McCann. He also loves to go to the beach. Both Alfredo and Maria enjoyed spending time with friends from church. Alfredo did not have children prior to marrying Maria, but Maria had 5 children. Alfredo is very close to the children, and they love him like he is their father. There are also 8 grand-children, and Alfredo is close to them as well. Alfredo loves to cook and eat chicken—fried or grilled—with rice and tostones. We are grateful to have Alfredo with us here at GCT!
